Amakusa ceramics from Kumamoto, Japan

Amakusa is a region in Kumamoto Prefecture on Kyushu Island in western part of Japan. Amakusa ceramics refer to the porcelain and pottery made in this region, which has high quality pottery stones. 

The Amakusa porcelain's characteristics lie in the transparent and white beauty, whereas the pottery is known for its simple texture and individuality.

Amakusa ceramics dates back to around 1650 AD and currently there are 11 kilns remaining to this date.
