Lao metal handwork

Laos is not only famous for its beautiful textile made of cotton and silk, bamboo handwork but also metal handwork, especially with silver. Lao metal work in gold and silver had its high point in 17th century.

The town of Luang Prabang was the center of silversmiths until 1975 revolution.

Laos was a busy crossroad between Thailand, Burma, China, Viet Nam and Cambodia. The artworks have influence of those surrounding countries.
