Pottery from Rishton, Uzbekistan
Apart from textiles, handmade artifacts well-known from Uzbekistan is pottery from a town of Rishton, located in the eastern part of the country. They have over 800 years of history in making pottery. They are the mecca of pottery making in Uzbekistan and about 90% of pottery in Uzbekistan is made here.
They are mostly known for the blue color as seen on this picture. Of course there are other colors but this blue is symbolic of the Rishton pottery. This blue glaze is made of minerals and plants. The base pottery is made of a reddish clay from the region.
