Takaoka copper-ware
Takaoka is a city in Toyama prefecture in northern Japan. It produces about 95% of copper-ware in Japan.
The production of copper-ware in Takaoka started in early 17th century. In the early days production of agricultural equipment by steel was main in the region. Then the copper-ware production for arts and Buddhism started to be popular in 19th century. In the Paris Expo in 1867, the Takaoka copper-ware was one of the items exhibited, where it received a very high appraisal.
You can find large items such as temple bells or smaller items such as vase, kettle, cups and so on.
