Tobe ware is a kind of ceramic produced in Tobe town, Ehime in south west of Japan. It is said that the hand-manufacturing of Tobe ware started around in the middle of the Edo period (1603-1868) .

It is known for its fine, delicate patterns using traditional techniques. The area produces high quality porcelain stones.

Its characteric lies in the beautiful white surface with a touch of gray, compared to Arima ware, and the light seems almost to go through.

Typical colors are white base with blue color or sometimes reddish brown.
