Yuki Tsumugi textile from Japan

Yuki Tsumugi is a kind of silk textile produced in Yuki-city, Ibaraki, Japan. This region was very well known as a place for silk production in Japan. 

It is  listed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010 as the oldest silk remaining on record.

Yuki Tsumugi has a very long history from around 8th century and also designated as one of the Important Intangible Cultural Properties of Japan since 1977. 

It is not only used to make Kimono, but also items such as coin purse, card case etc.
