Shibukusa yaki porcelain plate. Handmade in Hida-Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Shibukusa yaki porcelain originated in the late Edo period (19th Century) and uses local pottery stones. This porcelain maker's works have been used by the Japanese royal family and was exhibited at the Exposition Universelle and other prominent international exhibitions in different countries. It is the equivalent of Meissen in Germany.
