This colorful vintage Suzani was hand-embroidered in Bukhara, Uzbekistan in 1930-40s.

Suzani is a traditional tribal fabric, hand-embroidered by women in Central Asia. It was usually made by a mother as a dowry for when her daughter gets married and presented to the groom on the wedding day. The daughter is then supposed to finish the unfinished part. Suzani comes from a Persian word, which means needle.

The surrounding patchwork is made of silk/cotton fabric. The base is cotton and the thread is silk.

This item can be used as a bed throw/wall hanging.

Size: about  218 x 175 cm.

This is a vintage item and may have slight effects such as frayed threads, damage/stain from usage.
