Small blueish Bizen yaki (ware) indoor plant pot is handmade by a local artisan in Okayama Prefecture, Japan.
Bizen ware is one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns and it is considered to be one of the most outstanding kilns in Japanese pottery. Bizen ceramics is unique as it does not use glaze, like in many other pottery. These pottery wares are fired slowly over a long time in traditional climbing kilns with various chambers called Noborigama. The rustic appearance of Bizen ware is suitable for daily use.
Blue Bizen is created when the pottery is put in a place where there is not much oxygen in the kiln. It is rather rare to find the blue Bizen ware.
